Melissa Julian, Ph.D.

Dr. Melissa Julian is a postdoctoral registered psychological associate. She received her M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the George Washington University and her B.A. at the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Julian completed her predoctoral internship at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center focusing on OCD, anxiety disorders, trauma/PTSD, and substance use disorders among veterans. She has conducted research and received clinical training at several other eminent training institutions, including UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and Children’s National Hospital in Washington DC, among others. Dr. Julian has also published numerous book chapters and peer-reviewed articles, many of which are focused on resilience among young adults and medical populations, shedding light on factors that bolster one’s ability to cope during difficult life transitions. Throughout her clinical experiences, she received extensive training in evidence-based interventions including psychodynamic, mindfulness-based (ACT and DBT) and cognitive behavioral (CBT) therapies for mood and anxiety disorders, OCD, trauma/PTSD, ADHD, and substance use disorders. Dr. Julian’s integrative and evidence-based therapeutic orientation results in a well-rounded approach to psychotherapy. She enjoys taking an empathic, non-judgmental, and intuitive approach to guiding clients through self-exploration in order to initiate enduring and meaningful change.
